Car Sprayer

Hailing from the gently rolling hills of Minnesota, its landscape dotted with countless small lakes and its forests of aspen, birch, and pine, Graco is a company with a global reach but whose paint sprayers are still made within the borders of the United States of America. The company’s corporate culture centers on providing rugged, high quality, extremely functional painting devices for all levels of users, from the hobbyist or home handyman to the professional who makes their living with painting.

The smallest, most portable Graco Paint Sprayers are the hand-held True Coat Pro Cordless line, which resemble a good-sized hair dryer. These sprayers are almost disposable – the pump is rated to spray a total of 50 gallons of material before it needs to be replaced – but bring the power of airless piston pumps into a supremely portable format.

There is no paint supply hose or separate paint supply to carry and maneuver while spraying, since a 2 quart paint cup contains all the paint that is needed. An extremely smooth, even paint job that will penetrate fully into crevices and recesses is provided by the 2,000 psi spray, enabled by a small piston pump inside the hand-held spray gun itself. The sprayer can operate far from an electric power source thanks to its battery, so no electric cords will interfere with the user’s freedom of movement.

Home users can find a whole range of different strengths in Graco’s Magnum line. These paint sprayers have a separate piston unit connected to the paint gun by a supply hose that ranges from 25 feet long (for small ¼ horsepower units) to 150 feet long (for larger 7/8 horsepower units). Their pressure ranges from 2,500 to 3,000 psi, enough to shoot a wet, consistent pattern of paint onto a surface with a high degree of control, and tiny aerosol droplets that create a very uniform, smooth paint job that looks excellent and completely seals the substrate.

The X5 is a good example of the lighter Magnum sprayers. This smallish unit still offers a robust 2,800 psi through a twenty-five foot hose and draws from a 1 or 5 gallon paint can to provide plenty of material for projects such as room painting and coloring a picket fence, a garage door, or a deck.

The much larger XR9, mounted on a two-wheeled aluminum frame cart, still runs its 7/8 horsepower engine off household current, yet sprays .38 GPM (22.8 GPH) at 3,000 psi – enough to refinish the exterior of a split level house, two car garage, or other medium sized building in two or three hours with only one worker.

For extraordinarily rigorous, demanding paint jobs, the line of Graco paint sprayers encompasses such devices as the Ultra 395 Stand Electric Airless Paint Sprayer. This impressive device, which stands on four curving metal legs, generates up to 3,300 psi with its ¾ horsepower engine. Paint is delivered in the quantities needed due to a precision pressure control, and the device can shoot acrylics, enamels, latex, and wood stains with equal ease.

Even more powerful commercial airless paint sprayers are made by Graco, such as the Graco UltraMax II 1095, which has a 300′ retractable paint supply hose and can paint warehouses, factories, and other massive structures with great speed and efficiency.

Graco is not dedicated solely to making airless paint sprayers, however, though these are excellent, powerful tools that usually outperform pneumatic equivalents. The company also produces a full range of air-assisted sprayers for situations where lower pressures are desirable, such as refinishing furniture or applying paint or sealant to small objects.

Aluminum is the metal of choice for Graco paint sprayers, due to its being lightweight, tough, and permanently rustproof. This metal’s pale silvery sheen combines with the royal blue plastics used in the sprayers’ construction to make these products instantly recognizable – and letting the buyer know that they expect leading performance, good construction and quality American workmanship on a paint sprayer that will serve them well through many interesting paint projects.
